Russian banya interior

Here's the interior of a banya in a village in Udmurtia, Russia.
The stove traditionally has been wood, but as electricity is more common in the villages, more electric stoves are used.
The heat is turned way up, and from time to time someone throws a bit of water on the stove which causes steam to fill the banya. I've been in banyas so hot, I could feel some popping in my lungs.
Friends strike friends with branches of birch leaves, or some other leaf that has a good scent. The scent supposedly penetrates the pores that are opened by the beating. From time to time, people leave the banya proper to cool off a bit, share some vodka and bread and maybe fresh onions and such, then head back in.
